Teaching toddlers to tidy up during class is beneficial for several reasons:
Encourages Responsibility
It helps toddlers learn that they are responsible for their actions and belongings. Cleaning up after themselves teaches accountability.
Develops Organisational Skills
Tidying up introduces basic organisational habits, helping children understand order and structure.
Promotes Teamwork and Cooperation
In group settings, cleaning up together fosters teamwork, teaching toddlers to work collaboratively toward a common goal.
Builds Independence
Simple cleaning tasks empower toddlers, fostering a sense of independence and self-sufficiency.
Teaches Respect for Environment
Tidying up helps children value their environment and care for shared spaces and materials.
Supports Transitions
Tidy up time serves as a transition between activities, helping toddlers learn to move from one task to another smoothly.
Reinforces Routine
Consistently tidying up creates a predictable routine, which is comforting and helps toddlers
feel secure
We always encourage tidying up at class but we don’t force it, some kids choose to explore the props for longer, or can become attached to a certain toy (maggie moo or maracas usually 😂)
This is absolutely fine so no need to make your wee one tidy up if they just don’t want to.
